We just landed back in DXB after an amazing experience in Zanzibar for Eid break with some of our @bestbodyco x @mytribex family!
It was a fun-filled adventure with plenty of physical activities, sightseeing, cultural activities, giving back to the community and we even indulged in the local food and drink! 😎🍌🥥🍠🐟
We’re all about health, fitness and living life to the fullest! A wellness retreat or holiday that includes physical activities such as yoga or workouts doesn’t always have to be intimidating and involve lifting heavy weights or anything too intense!
We loved using our own bodies and created challenging body weight workouts for the fitfam to do whilst away with zero equipment as we were immersing ourselves in the minimalist and simple life, like how the locals live! Also, we’re not sticklers for eating and following a super strict diet that is going to get in the way of enjoyment and living LIFE when travelling! 🙌
Food is interlaced with different cultures, social aspects and regions of the globe and is part of any good trip away! We know you know what we mean 😉
We certainly experienced the best of what Zanzibar had to offer without any guilt!
Often we get the question “Won’t it undo all of my hard work, if I eat and drink what I want when I’m away?”
The answer depends on what you were doing before the trip and what you plan to do after.
If you have just finished our #6in4 Challenge and worked hard in those 4 weeks on achieving a healthy lifestyle after years and decades of not doing anything… then the answer is “yes” you’ll undo a lot of the hard work and results that you have gained!
Living an unhealthy lifestyle for 1 to 2 years and then implementing a healthy lifestyle for 4 weeks will get you results but it’s unrealistic to think that you can do nothing (i.e. not exercise/go back to your old habits/eat whatever you want without mindfulness) straight after and you’ll keep the results!
Health is a journey, not a destination! There is no end point! It’s a lifestyle and that is why enjoyment and community is a big part of what we do, to make it sustainable at Best Body Co.!
If you have been living a healthy lifestyle for 1 to 2 years and go away for a week or two, then your results won’t disappear and even if you put on a little extra weight, it’s just as easy to get it off when returning from your trip!
Remember we are what we repeatedly do. It’s simple math! Do more good than bad and you’ll be fine.
That being said, it can be hard to get the ball rolling once it has stoped… after a holiday or Eid break!
Here are 4 tips to get back on track after the eid break.
1. Exercise the day you get back no matter what. It doesn’t have to be a gruelling class or something record-breaking. Just get the heart pumping and the sweat going for a minimum of 30 minutes. This will help your body-clock also if changing time zones and is one of the best things you can do after being sedentary on a flight 🏋️♀️🏋️♂️🏋️♀️
2. Abstain from what you over indulged on your break for at least 2 weeks or even a month. E.g. If you drank a lot or had lots of sugar try to eradicate it from your diet for the above-mentioned period ❌❌❌🍝🍕🧁🍭🍬❌❌❌
3. Continue your healthy lifestyle and workout plan like prior to your trip away. Book it in your calendar and have some social accountably. Find a find or commit to a group (like the 6in4 Challenge) to help you restart you engine 🚗🚗🚗
4. No detoxes or juice cleanses, just go back to an unprocessed and accounted-for nutritional plan (like we give in our program). Don’t starve or think “detoxing” will help. The notion of detoxing is a waste of time but that’s another email topic altogether… 🙄🙄🙄
